- Sorry, but no. I've been on 2 grams nightly for years & I've never had them. On a side note, diphenhydramine (generic Benadryl) works great if you get a 'flush' from the Niaspan.

I hear that this stuff is bad for your liver. So why not take B3 supplements instead? - Each drug has its advantage and disadvantage and so have nicotinic acid. I've taken Niaspan for 6+ years (2 GRAMS) without a blip in my liver tests.

Has anyone here ever used the prescription drug Niaspan? I take 1000mg daily for my cholesterol and triglycerides. I've been taking it for a few months now and own experienced some side effects such as flushing (red-burning skin) & tingling - mostly on my limbs, and chills. Neither time have they been alarming - only mild discomfort...until...
What else is near to steal to support correct a recoil to niaspan when my mother is already taking plavix?
Try taking the Niaspan at bed time. I never had luck with aspirin helping. I'm on 2gm nightly. If I "flush", I usually sleep through it. If I DO wake with one, I rob 2 Benadryl. Good luck

With the news about Vytorin not providing much benefit, possible cancer link, is there an alternate drug (2 drugs in 1 pill) that I could consider to take instead?
