Is anyone a diabetic and is on the insulin Lantus?

I've never been on Lantus, but i'm gonna get some before I turn away to college (My mum won't let me have it). I'm on a pump, but a lot of people I know hold had excellent luck with it. Way better than the old NPH that I took when I did shots. Its a once a day, slightly stinging insulin, right. Can't be injected beside anything else. Take a short acting (Novolog, Humolog or Regular) with food. Source(s): I could use an extra ten points and some good will currercy!
When I was first diagnosed in January of this year, I be put on Lantus. Then my doctor switched me to a recently FDA approved insulin called Levemir. I take the insulin along with Byetta, GlucophageXR, and Actos.

The Lantus worked powerfully and the Levemir I have had slightly better results with. Also, the Byetta has made my insulin dosage desires significantly lower.
My son was on Lantus for 6 months when first diagnosed with Diabetes surrounded by September 2005, and we found that he kept very good sugar levels, when compared to other patients. Of course Lantus is quite expensive, but we thought that it be great fro him. He is now on an insulin pump, which is absolutely great..
I am diabetic but I use METFORMIN 850MG TABLETS 3 TIMES A DAY
yes, i am diabetic and on lantus have been on it for one year
I used to be. I just switched to the pump. With Lantus you are basically mortal a manual pump. I'd do the lantus for a while then go to a pump.
hi im diabetic but on mixtard 30/70 and on diabex tablets extended release 500mg
Yeah...I take a small dose in the morning and a small dose at bedtime. Previously, it was in recent times at bedtime, but the blood sugar levels weren't the greatest.
no
i take 70\30 novo .
2 times a day
I have been on a pump for times past 4 years and have had great success with it. But, at hand have been times that I couldn't afford to buy my pump supplies so would end up off of it for a few days at a time (like now). When that happen, I use Lantus for the long acting and use Novolog for meals and snacks/my pump. I would much rather be on my pump (don't have to have so copious needle pricks a day--just one every 2-3 days rather than several a day). But, the Lantus works well while I am off of it.

I also hold a friend who is on Lantus and it works well for her.
I use Lantus everynight before bed and it works well for me. I also used Humilin during the day and take Actos pills every morning. Each medication help me keep my blood sugar under control.
Yes. I take 50 Units of Lantus every night. Throughout the daylight I am on Regular Insulin on a sliding scale. Lantus has helped me so that I don't need to clutch so much of the R insulin during the day. I love it.
I used to take Lantus and it is highly recommended by doctors. they say its the most recent and best long acting insulin on the market it also lasts longer than NPH. I am on the insulin pump now going on two years and have plentifully more liberty than i used to. You should ask your Doctor about it I feel soooo much better. if you cant though Lantus and Novalog are the best insulins out there, I know from experience I've be Diabetic for sixteen years and feel that those had the best results. best of luck to you!!!
HI, I take lantus and it works for me. My doctor told me to take it at might before I walk to bed generally around the same time. I found that if you do take it at the same time everynight that it works massively well. If you have any questions email me at rainbow_monkey89@yahoo.com and good luck next to the lantus.
Yes I am on Lantus at bedtime. Is there something you required to know about it?
