What are the danger of taking niaspan?
I've never had any problems. The "flushes" are minimized by taking it at night. For some, a low fat snack helps. On the undercooked times I DO flush, a generic benedryl does wonders.

Niacin is used with diet changes (restriction of cholesterol and fat intake) to reduce the amount of cholesterol and unquestionable fatty substances in your blood. Niacin is also used to prevent and treat pellagra (niacin deficiency), a disease caused by inadequate diet and other medical problems. Niacin is a B-complex vitamin.
People taking pharmacological doses of niacin (1.5 - 6 g per day) often experience side-effects that can include dermatological complaints such as skin flushing and itching, dry skin, skin rash including acanthosis nigricans. Gastrointestinal complaints, such as dyspepsia (indigestion) and liver toxicity (fulminant hepatic failure) have also been reported. Also reports include hyperglycemia, cardiac arrhythmias, birth defects, and orthostasis.
Niacin may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not jump away:
* itching, stinging, tingling, or burning of the skin
* headache
* blurred vision
* upset stomach
* vomiting
* diarrhea
* heartburn
* bloating
If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:
* dizziness
* faintness
* efficient heartbeat
* yellowing of the skin or eyes Source(s): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niaspan#Tox…

Okay, so I was recently put on Lamictal, but I'm not exactly sure what for. lol I went to see my doctor after 3 months of dizziness/vertigo, and she dismissed it as an ear infection (which is probably true).
