I have smoked for 28 years and I quit smoking 24 days ago taking chantix. I liked the reality that you could smoke while taking it the first week. I took .5mg 2x's a day. The Best thing was it reduced the amount of ciggs I smoked right away from 1 pack a day down to 6 a daylight. I had no side effects the 1st week. After the first week, I quit and started taking 1mg of chantix 2x's a day. I felt nausea and had deeply of gas. I waited out the 2nd week dealing with the side effects that seemed to come and go adjectives day long. The 3rd week I decided to cut back the chantix and take 1 mg solitary once a day, at lunch time, and that cut the feeling of nausea right away. The gas went to very tolerable level. I still have the urge to smoke sometimes but this medication has really helped me. I changed my routines to aviod my smoking triggers and drink tea or water everytime I own a craving, which isn't that much any more. This medication is very expensive and my insurance doesn't pay for it, but I realized how much that I had spent over the 28 years of smoking and consider that it is worth every dime. I would encourage any one to try Chantix and talk to their doctor about the side effects. Most of the time the side effects are worth dealing with for the outcome.

i been taking it for a couple of weeks. i have been smoke free for about a week and a partially. chnatix really works. thier are some side effects, but very mild. when i first started taking it i had a little bit nausea, but it leaves after a couple of mins, and only when you first start taking it. i seem to be to dream alot more and have more wild dreams. the dreams are real vivid making it hard to sleep sometimes. after my dosage go up i started getting gas in the evening time, usually after taking my second pill, but it leaves after a couple of hours. the only other thing about chantix i didn't close to was that it wasn't covered by my insurance company, so i had to pay 125.00 for it. its well worth the money and the side effects though surrounded by the long run. you still crave nicotine though, esp. the first few days, but the cravings an't that strong. i started jogging when i had the urge, and it helped. email me any questions @ brez78@yahoo.com
