Question in the region of AcipHex...?
I'm looking for a new acid reflux medication. I'm on Protonix right now, but it doesn't work, it makes it worse. does AcipHex work? Is at hand an age limit?
Oh and my doctor won't give me Nexium for some reason.

Nexium can make things even worse, I know because i own acid reflux and it is something that i hate to wake up to, as for what i take it work really all right, called previcid or even tums for now will help .. am told works too but takes up to 2 weeks to work contained by your stomache, good luck with this one
there is a class of medication called proton pump inhibitors. aciphex, protonix, nexium, prilosec... they are all in that class and work pretty much the same road. however, everyone responds to everything in a different way. if protonix isn't working, the best thing is to try another drug from the same class. the rough and ready rule is find the one that works for the patient. ask him why he won't give you nexium. maybe it's because it is tier-3 nonformulary on many RX plans. but he should hold an answer for you.
as for do things work or not work... i don't know how many of the other responders know anything about the pharmaceutical industry, but the companies have to go through YEARS of clinical trials to prove that the meds do work. so yeah, they adjectives work. they just might not all work for each person. similar to i said, try each med in the class until you find the one that works for you! Don't work like that dude! Sad as it is, they got to experiment a little till they get the right one for YOUR body chemistry. Lexapro made me nuts, and they tried to afford me bi-polar chit! I couldn't even remember what I was thinking.
What make nation addicted to prescription drugs?
I don't understand. Why do people get addicted to prescription drugs? I know people seize addicted to street drugs like cocaine, heroine, etc., but why prescription drugs? I could never imagine myself getting addicted to prescription drugs. I thought people would look more forward to getting off prescription drugs to some extent than getting hooked on it. Addiction...
