Should i start taking lexapro again?
Absolutly, if it worked for you you should definitely consider going back on it...feeling of apathy is much better than a feeling of depression/suicidal...I'm currently taking 20mg per year for my anxiety and it's working very well; however, I think you should definitely see a counsler approaching I did as well along with the medication...trust me, it works! I was on Lexapro for several years. Did you wean yourself off by yourself or did a doctor backing you? Lexapro does make you feel apathetic because any psych pill is going to numb your emotions. The trick is to learn near your emotions. I recommend trying cognitive behavorial therapy. It doesn't mask the problems like pills would, but it deal with your issues at hand. See if your doctor can refer you to someone that can treat you this way.
Go to the library and get the book "Feeling Good" by David Burns.
Stay smiling and positive.
There are other options besides Lexapro. Perhaps try a new antidepressant.
No! The meds probably made you worse off. Your experience is not unusual. That is why you need to stay stale of it. You will get even worse symptoms than before.
I take Wellbutrin SR (150 mg) in the morning, and Lexapro (10 mg) in the evening, for depression and anxiety. I've been taking that for over a year and a partly, and it's working very well for me.
The Wellbutrin SR seems to help me to be more alert and moving - and wanting to do things - while the Lexapro makes me more mellow, and it helps me sleep better, too. Those are relatively low doses of both medications, which keeps the side effects at a minimum. I can't even really update I'm taking medication!
You might mention the Wellbutrin SR / Lexapro combination to your doctor, the number one reason I'm taking the Wellbutrin SR is to give me energy and motivation - and it really does help me to be more influential. And, it does help with the depression, too - it's a LOT better than going to 20 mg Lexapro!!!
articulate to your doctor first.
