Lantus and cancer what should i do?

my doctor today told me my insulin has been linked to cancer in a big study. he said i should shift back to my old insulin but has left the conclusion to me! i am 58 and using lantus 90 units a day. i have two uncles who died of cancer young. my feeble insulin was relion n. i dont know if i can still get it. any advice including where i can read more would comfort please!
I also take Lantus. I hadn't even heard about this but since I read your question I am researching it on the pattern. Of course, there are the usual suspects saying the usual confusing malarky and disagreeing with each other. I surmise you have a valid question and for myself, I have several "hands" to look as, as I'm sure you do too.

On the one hand... uncontrolled sugars do a LOT of trash to my body. Insulin definitely controls sugars.

On the other hand... I personally have a history of cancer and don't want to ever travel there again.

To be honest, diabetes and its associated meds are like every other disease and meds... sometimes the cure is worse than the disease... and vice versa.

Please... if you are going to stop taking the Lantus, call your doctor and get a script for some type of replacement... any another insulin or pills. I can't tell you what to do any more than you could give me my own answer. But good luck! Source(s): http://www.diabeteshealth.com/read/2006/…
The link between cancer and Lantus is VERY delicate. Considering your chances of dying from diabetes, you are better to take the Lantus and risk a very small chance of cancer, than to stop Lantus and risk a vastly BIG chance of diabetic complications.

AS for your other insulin -- you can use other brands, but you doctor will have to adjust the dosage.

Sound like you need to see an ENDOCRINOLOGIST. they specialize within diseases like diabetes, and can give you MUCH more accurate help!
