Oxycontin and Endone should I lug more?
Hi, I'm taking oxycontin and Endone whilst recovering from a back operation. The idea is to lower the dosage of the oxycontin, which I have been doing and its be fine. The problem is now I reached the level where I'm taking 10mg 3 times a morning and I'm having to take much more endone for break through pain. When I was taking 20mg 3 times a hours of daylight I would only need endone maybe once or twice or even none.
So which is better to go rear legs to taking 20mg and no endone or stay as I am?
I will of course see my GP, but I'm unable to do this for a few days, so need some advice contained by the interim.
Many thanks.
The best person for advice going on for medications between doctor's appointments is your pharmacist. If you are in the US, then you can call any Walgreens or CVS and ask them, and they will readily help.
Sounds like your body is not pretty ready for such a big dose reduction yet.It is best to maintain an mediocre level of pain relief rather than trying to play lock in up all the time which will leave you exhausted and less able to rest.Any stepdown for such a serious op should be monitored closely for your benefit.Perhaps you could identify the times of day when the pain is at it's worst and use the 20mg oxycontin to cover that particular period-your'e not increasing back to your imaginative dose, but attempting to keep the threshhold of medication high enough to cover the worst time of day-if you've been prescribed Endone, you can give somebody a lift up to the allowable dose, but don't go taking more than the doctor has reccommended. If the pain gets worse or something in recent times isn't feeling right, don't hesitate to go to your GP or specialist or hospital for advice.Trying to organize pain medication is a tricky and often confusing excercise.Good Luck.
I would take as much oxycontin as the law allows but thats not what is best
